sia karamalegos

web developer

Sia learned Fortran 90 in college, and then didn't pick up programming again until the advent of MOOCs. After casually playing with Python and JavaScript, she completed a beginner code-immersion bootcamp in New Orleans. Having determined that was not enough, she also signed up for the Viking Code School, a program with nearly unprecendented depth. Viking covers the fundamentals of software engineering and the modern web development stack, including Ruby, Rails, Sinatra, JavaScript, and AngularJS.

Sia loves data and back-end design and development but also likes to implement intuitive, visually-pleasing front-end interfaces. She's currently learning React and really enjoying the virtual DOM and its functional programming nature.

Sia has over 13 years of experience in strategy, project management, and operations. She graduated from Texas A&M University with a BS in chemical engineering, and received her MBA from Harvard Business School.

She is a lover of dogs and New Orleans, a part-time crochet pattern designer, and an aspirational endurance athlete, completing two full-distance Ironman triathlons.
